General Scholarships are open primarily to students who are seeking their first Associate degree or first Certificate. Students who arleady have an A.A. degree or higher will not be first considered, although they may still submit.

Dougherty Scholarship
Number of awards: 6
Major: Degree Seeking
Residency requirements: Arizona
Required GPA: 3.0
Need Based: Yes
Enrollment requirement: Minimum 6 credits

Additional Criteria:

Students must be an Arizona resident and be a US citizen. If selected for the scholarship or being renewed (not to exceed 4 semesters of funding) an additional application will need to be completed with the SMCC Financial Aid Office. Award based on enrollment (FT/QT/HT). Continuing student receiving the scholarship must complete a minimum of 12/24 credits in an academic year. Students must maintain 3.0 GPA and enroll in a minimum of 6 credits for the Spring disbursement.

Additional Criteria:

Criteria, amount and number of awards will vary. Awards will be available for the following: Athletic Scholarship, Communication Student Scholarship, Math/Science/Engineering Programs Scholarship, MEChA Student Scholarship.

STARS Scholarship
Number of awards: 20
Major: Degree Seeking
Residency requirements: None
Required GPA: 2.0
Need Based: Some
Enrollment requirement: Minimum 6 credits


Additional Criteria:

Student must be pursuing an Associated Degree or Certificate program. Open to new or continuing students.
