Students may work part-time (15-20 hrs/wk) on campus and receive bi-monthly paychecks through the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program or the Institutional Work-Study program. Students are typically awarded between $2500-$4000 a year on their federal or institutional work study allocation. Salaries range from $7 - $10 depending on level of responsibility and skill required for the position. Depending on funding, student who work part-time during the academic year may be able to continue full-time employment during the summer.
In addition to the benefit received from skills development in many of the various campus departments, the additional benefit of working in a federal work study position is that all of these earnings are 'deducted' from the federal methodology formula when applying through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid ~ www.fafsa.ed.gov). Positions are limited. Students are encouraged to check with the Financial Aid office early in the year regarding these positions.
