Residency Guidelines

Classifications

All students will be classified for tuition purposes under one of the following residency classifications:

  • Maricopa County resident
  • Out-of-County resident
  • Out-of-State resident (including F-1 nonimmigrant students)
  • Unclassified, Out-of-County, Out-of-State (1-6 credit hours system-wide)

Guidelines used to determine residency for tuition purposes are a combination of statutory law (A.R.S. §151801 et. sec.) and regulations of the State Board of Directors for the Community Colleges of Arizona (R7-1-23). All of the Maricopa Community Colleges are subject to the above statutes and regulations. Students who have questions about their residency should contact the Office of Admissions and Records for clarification.
